For CIES 2022, we have collaborated with the Minneapolis Insititute of Art (Mia) for an intimate evening to explore three wings of their famous art collection.  All CIES conference attendees will be provided transportation on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 from the Hyatt to Mia to spend the evening as a community amidst the treasures of the art museum.  Between 6:00-9:00 pm, we will get to walk with our colleagues, purchase a drink, and immerse ourselves in the art.   

Mia seeks to “enrich the community by collecting, preserving, and making accessible outstanding works of art from the world’s diverse cultures. Mia believes that it is in the public interest to judiciously expand the collection to ensure that it represents the full range of creative expressions of peoples the world over, past and present.” Mia works actively to decolonize their collections and as one of the largest art educators in Minnesota, the Mia collection contains 89,000 objects dating back to 20,000 BCE.  More than a half-million people visit the museum each year and their Art Adventure program provides arts education for elementary schoolchildren. We are honored to partner with this historic institution to bring you this memorable evening program for our conference participants.
