The Comparative and International Education Society has always and will always consider the safety and well-being of its members as its first priority in the planning of any society event. The conference organizer has and continues to work closely with hotel management to ensure that the covid-19 safety protocols in place reflect the guidance and regulations of the U.S. public health authorities and the Department of State. Additionally, our conference planning team monitors numbers related to infections and/or community spread as well as alerts regarding the emergence of variants. We will continue to communicate safety measures and requirements for conference attendees with regard to Covid-19 vaccinations and the required use of masks.
Safety Protocols Overview
Health and safety measures are being put in place from the moment an attendee checks in for the conference until they exit the venue. These measures have been devised based on guidance from the United States Center for Disease Control as well as additional policies dictated by the hotel venue. The hotel venue has implemented its own measures to also include guidance from the World Health Organization. Those measures can be viewed at the links included below.
When attendees register for CIES 2022, they agree to present proof of vaccination and commit to wearing a mask at all times when they are inside the conference venue.
Upon check-in, guests will be required to present proof of vaccination.
We will be following CDC guidelines regarding full vaccination status.
The criteria for full vaccination status is as follows:
- 2 weeks (14 days) after your dose of an accepted single-dose vaccine
- 2 weeks (14 days) after your second dose of an accepted 2-dose series
- 2 weeks (14 days) after you received 2 doses of any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted covid-19 vaccines administered at least 17 days apart.
Accepted Covid-19 vaccines include:
- Janssen/J&J – are the ONLY accepted Single Dose Series. All others are two-dose series.)
All guests will be required to wear masks indoors at the venue. If a guest does not have a mask, one will be provided.
Conference events are being planned with social distancing measures. For example, concurrent panels will be set up with classroom seating to provide safe separation between attendees. Plenary sessions or any sessions that use round tables will have smaller groups at each table to ensure adequate separation between attendees.
The hotel venue will be providing hand sanitizing stations throughout the conference venue and have incorporated increased cleaning protocols.
